On February 17th local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Argentine Foreign Minister Montino as scheduled during his attendance at the Munich Security Conference.

Wang Yi said that although China and Arab countries are far apart, they have always harbored friendly feelings towards each other. China respects the choice of the Argentine people and believes that Argentina has the ability to overcome current temporary difficulties and embark on the path of development and revitalization as soon as possible. In two days, China and Arab countries will celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. For over half a century, China and Arab countries have adhered to mutual respect, equal treatment, and win-win cooperation. The relationship between the two countries has withstood the test of international and regional changes, achieving a leapfrog development from distant friends and strategic partners to comprehensive strategic partners. There are no historical legacy issues or real conflicts between China and Arab countries, and the relationship between the two countries is mature and resilient enough. We are willing to adhere to the positioning of comprehensive strategic partnership with the Arab side, continue to place China Arab relations in an important position in bilateral diplomacy, understand and support each other's core interests, enhance mutual trust, deepen cooperation, and work together to promote China Arab relations to a new level.

Mondino stated that the relationship between Afghanistan and China is important in the past, present, and future. I am delighted to have served as a torchbearer for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and formed an inseparable bond with China. China is not only Argentina's second largest economic and trade partner, but the two sides have highly complementary development and enormous potential for cooperation. The Afghan side admires China's tremendous achievements and is willing to learn from China's experience to further develop Arab Chinese relations and deepen contacts in various fields. The Afghan side appreciates China's non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and will continue to firmly adhere to the One China policy.

Wang Yi expressed that China appreciates Afghanistan's adherence to the One China principle, and China also supports Afghanistan in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity. China and Arab countries are both developing countries and important emerging market countries, with profound accumulation and solid ties in pragmatic cooperation. Deepening China Arab cooperation is in line with the interests of both countries and is the common expectation of the two peoples. China and Argentina have signed a memorandum of understanding on jointly building the "the Belt and Road". Strengthening the docking of development strategies will open up broader prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation. China is willing to deepen the exchange of governance experience with Afghanistan and support Afghanistan in enhancing its capacity for independent development.
